10 September Days To Celebrate In Your Homeschool + Printable Calendar 🍂
September brings fresh routines, crisp air (unless you’re here in Florida), and plenty of opportunities to bring fun into your homeschool. Beyond core subjects, you can turn ordinary days into memorable learning experiences by tying them to fun, quirky, or meaningful observances.

Here are ten September days to celebrate at home — with ideas for simple activities that blend learning and fun.
🍕1. National Cheese Pizza Day – September 5
Make today all about stories!
- Obviously, have pizza for lunch or dinner!
- Make your own, especially if you’ve never done so before.
- Try a new-to-you pizzeria and support local business.
📚 2. National Read a Book Day – September 6
Make today all about stories!
- Create a cozy reading fort with pillows and blankets.
- Have kids pick a favorite book to present to the family.
- Older kids can write mini book reviews or design a new cover for a classic.
🐻 3. National Teddy Bear Day – September 9
A perfect day for little learners!
- Host a teddy bear picnic in your backyard.
- Practice math by sorting bears by size, color, or counting snacks.
- Write a short story starring your child’s stuffed friend.
😊 4. National Day of Encouragement – September 12
Encourage one another and build each other up!
- Have each child write a kind note to a sibling or parent.
- Create a family “encouragement board” where you add uplifting words all week.
- Talk about famous encouragers in history or faith traditions.
