I’m a wife, mom of five, a blogger, and the founder of a local homeschool community in North Central Florida. I love building community both online and locally, so I recently launched Homeschool Moms Around The Table. A discussion-based homeschool community (free) for moms.
Here you’ll find homeschool inspiration, printable resources, family activities, and encouragement for moms raising curious learners—along with the stories that have shaped our family’s journey.
I’ve been blogging since 2002. I’ve had several blogs, and I’m gradually bringing that content together here at Life With Joanne.

👨🏽 👩🏻 👩🏽 Our oldest three children joined our family through foster care adoption in 2003. I’ve shared parts of that journey here on the blog and hope to write a book about our experiences someday. Our two youngest 👩🏻🧑🏻 later joined our family through kinship adoption.
In 2004, we began homeschooling. Our oldest three are grown and have finished, and I’m currently continuing with our two youngest, who are 10 and 11.
In 2009, I founded Ocala Homeschooling, a local homeschool community that continues to connect families through activities, friendships, and shared learning.
☕️ More about me:
- I love heavy metal and old-school punk rock.
- I was raised Roman Catholic, spent many years away from my faith as an agnostic. I experienced a “come to Jesus” moment in 2021 that began my journey back to the Catholic Church.
- I’ve been a pescatarian since my early 20’s.
- I owned The New York Dance & Fitness Center in Brooklyn for nearly 10 years.
I started this blog because I love sharing ideas that help families. Whether it’s homeschool resources, seasonal activities, parenting, faith, or stories from my own life, I hope you’ll leave here with something helpful, encouraging, or inspiring.
