An Afternoon In Greenwich Village

The Village and the Lower East Side have always been my favorite areas of Manhattan. I worked in several stores and businesses there throughout my 20’s including Manic Panic and Unique Clothing Warehouse. I also hung out there with friends, going to see the midnight showing of Rocky Horror at the 8th Street Playhouse, hanging out in Washington Square Park or going to CBGB’s to watch local bands. There was an energy in the Village that was unlike anywhere else.

One of our trips back home (we live in Florida now), my husband and I took our two daughters (our son wasn’t with us on this trip) to the Village to show them some of the places we loved.

My favorite place to shop – Trash & Vaudeville!

If I moved to Manhattan and money was no issue (ha!) I would LOVE to live in Greenwich Village. A secret dream of mine.

Also, I’m pretty sure this was the neighborhood that Carrie Bradshaw lived in from Sex and the City…. right?! Gorgeous.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Well actually, it’s more like a walk down St Marks Place. 🙂

Your day with your daughter looks like it was so much fun! We have never explored New York and having only been there twice, we have never had a chance to explore the quieter more scenic parts esp the parks.

Love Washington Square Park, did you get to hear Colin play his piano?

I need to get into the city soon before we go back to Florida.

I love listening to live music in the park. It looked like a lovely day to go traveling around town.

Oh my goodness, the last time I was on the east coast, specifically NY… Gah! 2006?? It’s been so long and to be honest, I am not even sure I can go back – I have way too much history over there, it would just be so strange!
