One year ago (I can’t believe it’s been a YEAR!!) my two then 14 year old poodles (they’re 15 now) TJ & Mini found three kittens in our backyard. They were about 10 days old and were just starting to open their eyes.
My dogs had been in our screen room and started barking like crazy. When I let them out they ran behind my husband’s shed and Mini came out with something in her mouth. She walked back to our house and deposited it by our back door.
When we saw it was a kitten we checked the shed area and found two more. It looked as through they had been attacked and that was what my dogs were barking at. My husband rushed the three of them to our vet – the always wonderful Town & Country Animal Hospital in Ocala, Florida. One died on the way to the vet, the one Mini rescued was in great health and another needed surgery from being attacked by whateevr snuck into our yard during the night. My awesome vet took ownership of the one that needed surgery and saved her life. Clover has since been adopted by another vet at Town & Country and is doing great.
We kept the one that Mini saved and named him Mini-Me, after her. Here is my original facebook post from last year, a photo of Mini-Me after coming home from the vet the day we found him and the third photo is him now.
Awww! What a sad story with a happy ending. I’m so glad you guys were able to rescue those poor kittens.
TOO CUTE!!! Love the story, really made me smile 🙂
Growing up a dog person, I had no idea I was such a sucker for cats. About 8 years ago, Facebook informed me how wrong I was, and has been reminding me ever since.
Aww what a cute story! She looks just like my own little kitty Ghani. Don’t they just enrich your life so much? Love the kitten picture and teenager comparison. Would love it if you snuck some more pics in 😉
Such a heartwarming story! Thank you so much for sharing it!
So cute – thank you for brightening my morning with such a beautiful story! I love how your dogs were “protecting” the kittens. Clearly Mini-Me was meant to become a part of your family 🙂
