Delicious and easy to put together, Minty Muddy Buddies are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, or any day of the year. Muddy Buddies are a perfect treat for movie night at home or a party with friends.
You probably have a lot of the ingredients on hand already and may only need 1-2 items.
Muddy Buddy Ingredients
9 cups Chex cereal, or store brand
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
1-1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 bag mint M&M’s candies
Directions
1. Measure the cereal into a large bowl and set aside. Line a baking sheet with wax paper and set aside.
2. In a microwave-safe medium bowl, microwave the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter for 1 minute, then stir. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
3. Pour the mixture of the cereal and gently mix until the cereal is all coated.
4. Transfer the mixture to a 2-gallon ziplock bag and add the confectioner’s sugar. Seal the bag and shake until all the cereal is coated.
5. Spread the cereal out onto the baking sheet to cool. Sprinkle M&M candies throughout the cereal.
6. Store in an airtight container.
I am afraid to make this. Have a funny feeling I could eat the entire batch!
Wow Joan! This looks so tasty and simple. I love snacks I can just easily munch while I’m watching TV. Also – mind blown: I had no idea they make Mint M&Ms. I thought they had just only one chocolate flavor. Do they have other flavors?! I want to try them all!
I was not expecting chex cereal! Amazing how much we can do with cereal besides pouring milk on it and eating it for breakfast! These look like amazing treats for St. Patty’s. I’ll have to remember “muddy buddies” — never heard of it before!
These are super cute for a snack on St. Patrick’s Day!
Those cups are just adorable. I could eat an entire batch of puppy chow or muddy buddies or whateveryoucallem…which is why I’ve only made them once, hahaha.
These are great for St. Patrick’s day! I’ve been trying to find something easy to make for my students.
I’ve never heard of ‘muddy buddies’, is this a standard term in the area where you live? It looks like a yummy snack.
What a great idea! My kids love Muddy Buddies…I never thought to add mint or colored candies. I love it when food matches a party or theme. I’m giving this a try next time we have an event. Thanks for the idea
I know one of my favorite activities to do with my sisters when I’m home to visit is to dive into a big bowl of what we call “puppy chow”. This looks very festive!
