Having Fun Inside, When It’s Cold Outside
There’s a lot of fun activities that you and your family can do together in the winter; sledding, skating (especially during January because it’s National Skating Month), snowboarding and building snowmen. Those activities are not only fun, but they’re great exercise.

Then there are days that you just want to stay inside where it’s warm and cozy. Those are the days for making hot cocoa and spend quality time with your family. Those are the days for watching movies, playing board games and video games, doing crafts and sewing projects and playing games.
Winter Family Movies
Here’s just a few of the many family friendly winter movies that are available on DVD or streaming.
Ice Age
Happy Feet
Miracle On Ice
The Snowman
Frosty The Snowman
Fun Family Games
From board games and video games, to online games and games you can make up, there’s never a shortage of fun activities to do with your family. Some of our favorite board games have been Apple To Apples, Payday and Othello.
Family Projects & Activities
There’s a lot of special days in winter to celebrate and plan activities for. You can bake some goodies with your kids for National Brownie Day and National Cookie Day. Do this before you watch a movie or play a game for a fun-filled day that will create happy memories. National Embroidery Month is also in the winter and you can plan a simple project for your family to do together.
Don’t let the cold weather keep you from having fun with your family. With some imagination, and this list to get you started, there’s lots of fun things you can plan that won’t cost a lot of money or take to long to prepare. Have fun!
