It looks like Hurricane Dorian decided not to visit us after all. After living in Florida since 2002, we’ve learned how to be prepared as best we can, but even that is not enough sometimes. Hurricane Dorian was on track to hit Florida yesterday and after seeing the devastation it caused in the Bahamas, I was getting worried.
I shot this video on Friday, August 30 when we were still unsure of its path.
I shot this one on Saturday, September 1 which was the day before it slammed into the Bahamas.
As of Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2019, there have been seven hurricane-related deaths in the Bahamas, but I’m sure there will, unfortunately, be more. Some media outlets have reported sustained wind speeds of 185 mph and storm surges as high as 23 feet.
Here are some organizations that are providing relief if you want to help. I didn’t include large organizations such as the Red Cross because of the controversy surrounding them so I listed smaller, lesser known ones that are on the ground doing what they can. Please do your own research before donating.
