Growing up, Easter always meant new clothes, going to church (St. Simon & Jude in Brooklyn) and then Grandma’s house to spend the day with family. Since starting a family and moving to Florida, Easter has been different from year to year. Some years we stay home and Billy cooks, and other times we go out to eat. Some years we’re 10 people, some years we’re 3. Not being religious, we skip church but I usually light a candle in front of our statue of St. Mary.
We were going to stay home and cook this year but we decided to go out to eat. After calling a few places, we decided on Ruby Tuesday. We’ve actually had Easter dinner there twice before and always enjoyed their food.
This year we’ll be nine in total, seven adults and two little ones. My daughter’s boyfriend and her closest friend will be joining us, as well as our neighbor who lives across the street.
A few weeks ago my cousin Dawn and her son Fortunato came to Florida and we were able to meet up which was so much fun! I love when my family comes to Florida! She gave the kids a bunch of egg decorating kits that we’ll use on Saturday to color our Easter eggs.
I usually procrastinate when it comes to buying Easter basket goodies and because of that, the selection is always dismal, but not this year! I shopped early! Yay me! Here’s all the stuff I bought for Loralye (4 years old) and Landon’s (3 the day after Easter) baskets. Loralye has been asking for Hatchimals so I got a small one for her basket. I picked up some candy, cookies, coloring play packs, marshmallows, coloring books, candy jewelry, bath bombs, bubbles, and a bunch more stuff.
And here is their finished baskets. I skipped the grass this year because it always makes a mess.
My daughter Jacqueline gets two baskets; one from my husband and I, and one from the kids. She’s the best aunt ever! She doesn’t care for chocolate but she loves sour candy and gummies so I always make sure to fill it up with treats she likes.
Can’t forget my hunny bunny Billy! I picked up some of his favorite goodies for his basket.
I bought some goodies for our guests and stuff for an egg hunt for the kids. I had to go back to the store because I ate some of the candy I bought for my daughter’s friend. lol
Have a happy Easter!
I love the fact that you admit to eating some of the candy. As always you do the right thing and replaced it. 🤣
Looks like a great Easter! I love filling the baskets and personalizing each. Being a last-minute shopper, however, I’m impressed that you’re ready.
Happy Easter!
