Fun Staycation Ideas
Sometimes going away for a vacation is just not in the budget or there are time constraints that don’t allow for a vacation away from home. It’s those times that you should consider a staycation.
Here are some fun staycation ideas to help you plan your vacation close to home.
Things to Do
In order to have a good staycation, you do need to complete some research. Don’t worry, this is fun research and not boring. Complete a list of activities that are within an hour radius of your home. Maybe there is a zoo you have wanted to visit, now is the time. Was there a wine tasting venue that you wanted to check out? Make the time to go while you’re on your staycation. If you have no idea where to start then just start searching for “things to do in _____.” This will help you come up with lots of things to do in your town and surrounding cities.
Finding Deals
You ca find local deals via social media. If you keep up to date with the little shops and businesses in your area, some of them probably have Facebook. Visit those Facebook pages and see what kind of specials they are offering while on your staycation. You can also check your local newspaper. Don’t be afraid to call or email those businesses to see what kinds of specials they can offer as well.
Stay Local
Are there hotels and bed and breakfasts around your city or town? A staycation is the perfect opportunity to stay in one of those fabulous locations. Set a budget for yourself and then start calling around to make reservations. Sometimes staying away from home for a night can renew and refresh you. You also save money because you are not traveling really far away from home, just to get away. Take advantage of everything that is in your city during your staycation.
Enjoy the Little Things
When going away on a vacation, there can be a lot of stressors involved. That’s why a staycation makes perfect sense. You can enjoy each day as it comes. Have a cocktail party, invite your adult friends over for drinks and a spa night, have a picnic, go for walks, and just stay up late and sleep in. Use your staycation time to relax and unwind.
I want to have a week staycation in St.Augustine or Cocoa Beach

Our Staycation is usually spent in our new sunroom and backyard. We spent some money getting everything in order because we know we wanted a relaxing spot at our house that made it seem like a year-round vacation.
We are doing a weekend staycation next month at a downtown hotel. We’ll visit some local museums and go out to dinner and it will feel just like going away. Great ideas.

These are excellent tips! My husband and I use Groupon and Living Social to do fun stuff nearby all the time. In fact, I can’t remember the last time we actually took a vacation outside of the Carolinas because we have been having so much fun here. 🙂
