Our book haul from Book Outlet arrived today! All the books I ordered were for our homeschool. Some are for now and others are for when they’re a little older. I’ll include the full list of what we bought at the end of this post.

As you can see from the title, I spent $36.40 for 24 books. That included free shipping so every penny of that went to books!

I bought some readers for my first grader, and my kindergartener for when he’s ready. Out of all the leveled books, Step into Reading level 1 is where she’s at. She enjoys learning to read and I don’t want to squash that by pushing her to read beyond her level. When she picks up one of these books, I want her to have the confidence that she can read it.

I’ll do a seperate posts on these books so you can see if they’re right for your kids also.

I have to admit, I’m frugal when it comes to books. We have so many places to buy second hand books around here. It’s rare I buy a brand new book, except for occasional keepsakes, must-haves or from the Dollar Tree (which cost $1). I buy the bulk of our books from thrift stores, second hand book stores or eBay.

I love holiday/seasonal books so I bought a copy of The Night Before Christmas. They had other versions but this one has vintage drawings and I thought it added to the story. I bought F Is For Flag because we don’t have any patriotic holiday books.

These two are for when we start American History in another two years. I’m going to wait until my kindergartner is in 2nd grade and my 1st grader is in 3rd grade so they better retain what they learned and can read the material. I’ve been buying stuff and setting it aside.
