If you looking for an easy winter craft for kids (and I do mean easy!), look no further. What I like about this one is that older kids can use more detail, while younger ones can still make a cute craft.
I did a few of these with my seven year old son and my almost 9 year old daughter (she’ll be 9 on Christmas day).
Start by tracing yours and your child’s hand on a piece of sturdy paper. Depending on how you want to decorate it will determine the paper you use. We used used printer paper for these, Trace their hand with their fingers closed because you want the shape to look like a mitten.
From here we decided to create it our winter mitten craft two ways.
1. My kids decorated their mitten and glued it on card stock (leaving a slight border of color). Then they punched a hole at the top, tied yarn and hung it on our homeschooling bulletin board.
2. I decorated my mitten and glued it to a piece of colored paper. Then I added a few stars with a star hole puncher. I glued a yellow peice of paper behind that and hing it on the wall.
Didn’t I say it was easy?
