I’ve been wanting to write up a business mission statement for a while and although I had some initial ideas in my head, I hadn’t written anything down on paper. I began with a brain dump, which is the process of getting all your thoughts out of your head and written (or typed) out in no particular order. As I got deeper into this, I realized the idea of a mission statement seemed stuffy to me so I created a life and business manifesto instead.
Manifesto; a declaration of your motives, opinions, beliefs and intentions.
Over the course of a few days, I mapped out seven points that were important for me to express. I chose seven because it represents my mother to me because she crossed over on 07/07/07 and I wanted to acknowledge her in this process. I sat with a large pad and my favorite smiley pen and wrote out my thoughts. I enjoyed this process because I always find clarity when I self-examine myself.
I rewrote and crossed things out many times over the next few days, until I felt that the words I chose represented who I was and what I believed in. This is the finished (for now) manifesto, which has become my 7 Point Life + Biz Manifesto.
This is such a great idea! I love it. Thanks for linking up to our #BuJoMojo linky party!

What a good idea ! And I love how you included your mom in it. What you came up with is amazing !! Love it
We do something similar to this at my job. And we post them outside of our offices. They are very effective with self-exploration and company communication. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Writing a manifesto is a great idea and something I should definitely do. I like how you included your love of chocolate on the list, I can relate.
I think we all need to take note into what are purpose is. I often wonder why I don’t do this more for my own business I am sure things would be more clear if I put it down on paper.
What a great way to reevaluate things. I need to borrow this idea for myself. I really makes you think and look at where you want to go.
This is such a good idea, and yours is so inspiring. I need to really spend some time thinking and writing my own.
I have been doing something similar. Definitely helpful in determining the direction you want to go with your life and business!
This is a great idea! I should do this before the beginning of the year, I feel like I could be more productive if I had better goals.
This is a great idea for both business and personal to bring clarity before the new year. I really like how you organized it, too!
Joanne, This is a great idea. Sometimes its better to write your plan and see it. I love how you have everything separated, I am going to try this for next year.
I love this idea and I also love your manifesto. It really says a lot about your character as a person.
I love this idea. I’m in a reflective mood on life and business this time of year; what a great way to express the deep seated beliefs and driving forces.
This is really nice – a reflection of you. Knowing you from your blogs and your groups – I can see so much of who you are in these 7 Points.
