About my lesson plans:
I create my unit studies based on my kids’ interests and incorporate most of these elements into each one. Videos (usually from YouTube), books, websites, printable sheets (variety of coloring, facts, activities, etc), snack, craft/hands-on, and field trip. Depending on how in-depth we get, I space out the activities between 3-4 days and 1-2 weeks.
In this post, I’ll share the resources we’ve used for our own bats lesson plan. There are certain elements I try to use with all my unit studies like a themed craft and snack.

🦇 Learning About Bats: Facts and Information
We start a unit by learning about the topic. We do this mainly through videos, books, and field trips. For this unit we watched a video from Learn Bright (one of our favorite YouTube channels) and read a non-fiction book from our home library.

🦇 Bat Snack Kids Can Make
I always try to incorporate a snack or other recipe into our lesson. My kids loved making these as part of our bat unit, and they were really simple to put together. We even made them for Halloween last year.

Along with our non-fiction reading, we usually read a fiction story that goes with what we’re learning about.

My kids enjoy doing a hands on activity with our unit. For this one we made this cute (and easy!) bat craft.
