Day Trip To St. Augustine, Florida

Since moving to Florida in 2002, we’ve enjoyed exploring the sunshine state. One of the spots we wanted to visit was St. Augustine so last week my husband & I planned a day trip there. Did you know St. Augustine was founded in 1565 and is the oldest established city in the US? St. Augustine became part of the USA in 1819 and became the capital of the Florida Territory until 1824. This historic city serves as the headquarters for the Florida National Guard. We started the day early since we had a two hour ride ahead of us. It was a beautiful morning with hardly any traffic along State Road 20. When we got to St. Augustine we decided to start with lunch and […] Continue reading »

An Afternoon In Greenwich Village

The Village and the Lower East Side have always been my favorite areas of Manhattan. I worked in several stores and businesses there throughout my 20’s including Manic Panic and Unique Clothing Warehouse. I also hung out there with friends, going to see the midnight showing of Rocky Horror at the 8th Street Playhouse, hanging out in Washington Square Park or going to CBGB’s to watch local bands. There was an energy in the Village that was unlike anywhere else. One of our trips back home (we live in Florida now), my husband and I took our two daughters (our son wasn’t with us on this trip) to the Village to show them some of the places we loved and for this week’s Wordless Wednesday, […] Continue reading »

View From The Empire State Building

Being born and raised in NYC has it’s perks like the amazing history and stunning architechure of some of the building and landmarks. Over the years I’ve been to the Empire State Building many times and even worked there – in a photo lab on the 14th floor.  For this week’s Wordless Wednesday I want to share photos from all four sides of the Empire State Building. It’s a spectacular view and I didn’t do it justice with these photos (taken in 2007). West view facing the Hudson River. That’s New Jersey on the other side of the river. South view. You would see the World Trade Center at this view, prior to September 11, 2001. North view looking at the Met Life Building (formally […] Continue reading »

Main Branch Of The NY Public Library #WordlessWednesday

The main branch of the New York Public Library is actually named The Stephen A. Schwarzman Building and it’s located on 5th Avenue and 42 Street in Manhattan. It’s not only stocked with over a million books, maps and historic reference materials, the building itself is a work of art, with amazing architecture, paintings and statues. For this week’s Wordless Wednesday, I want to share some of the photos I took the last time we were there. BLOGGERS! If you have a WW link this week, add it to the Mister Linky below so we can visit!   Continue reading »
